Product description
Louise Sornasse 1903 – Printed Chart (Pre-order)
In 1903, Louise Sornasse stitched this magnificent sampler at the Couvent des Sœurs du Sacré-Cœur de Jésus in Antwerp, Belgium.
This monumental Belgian sampler measures 636 × 596 stitches: approximately 92 × 86 cm (36 × 34 inches) on 36-count linen.
It is filled with alphabets, darning work, border motifs, and open hemstitch work, all executed in the refined style taught in Belgian convent schools of the early 20th century.
The original sampler belongs to Annelies van den Bergh, who carefully charted and stitched the reproduction model.
Soed Idee is proud to publish this pattern on her behalf.
The printed chart will be supplied as loose pages in a sturdy storage folder, making it easy to use without folding or turning large sheets.
Detailed instructions for the various open hems used by Louise are available on Annelies van den Bergh’s blog – a direct link is included in the pattern.
This is a pre-order:
Delivery of printed charts is expected by the end of November 2025.
The digital version will be available January 5, 2026.
Good news for U.S. customers: this pattern can be shipped tariff-free to the United States, as printed charts are not subject to import duties.
A remarkable reproduction for those who love grand, historic Belgian red samplers full of character and heritage.
